Aquatic Therapy Research

THE PROJECT:

A collaborative pilot study with Western Sydney University evaluating the delivery, impact, and future potential of Aquatic Therapy for people with complex needs.

Purpose

• Evaluate current Aquatic Therapy service delivery.

• Capture experiences of participants and carers through interviews.

• Analyse service data to identify potential benefits, efficacy and areas for improvement.

• Lay the foundation for a 15-year program of research into Aquatic Therapy effectiveness and best practice.

Method

• Semi-structured interviews (30–60 mins) with parents/carers.

• Secondary data analysis of existing Aquatic Therapy records.

• Ethical processes in place to protect confidentiality (all data de-identified).

Outcomes

Findings will help:

• Build an evidence base for Aquatic Therapy in Australia

• Inform service development and future practice

• Contribute to longer-term research into therapy efficacy and implementation

• By evaluating how Aquatic Therapy is delivered and experienced, this research aims to strengthen the knowledge base,

guide service delivery, and support better outcomes for people with complex needs.
